How ADHD causes issues with emotional regulation
Adults with ADHD often struggle with emotional regulation, which can lead to difficulties maintaining healthy relationships and controlling outbursts. ADHD emotional regulation is often a significant factor in circumstances where adults with ADHD experience strong emotions that they can't seem to break out of or redirect in a healthy manner.
Because intense emotions offer powerful stimulation and the ADHD brain can have trouble regulating focus, many ADHDers can find themselves either fixated or lacking in emotional control when their emotions run high. This can make it difficult to regulate one's reactions to emotional situations.
These symptoms can be damaging when it comes to maintaining healthy relationships with others because ADHDers can often get carried away with a feeling and are prone to emotional outbursts that can be a source of embarrassment or shame.
This can also be the driving force behind a common ADHD symptom known as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD), characterized by a severe reaction of shame or humiliation in circumstances of rejection or criticism (whether real or perceived).
Struggles with ADHD emotional regulation can contribute to several mental and physical health symptoms, including the following:
Muscle tension and pain
Difficulty managing stress
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)

I am so grateful for my Agave coach taking the time to listen to me. It makes me feel seen and like my concerns are valid. I am grateful to have someone understand me.
It is so reassuring to have my Agave coach by my side. Honestly, I think I'm the most balanced right now than I can ever remember being.
My partner doesn't struggle with ADHD and doesn't grasp how much the subsequent executive dysfunction affects my life. With medication not bringing the "aha" moment I hoped for, you have no idea how much the Agave help means to me.
